This Spring, several dads and daughters participated in a Daddy-Daughter Ukulele Class at Dawson Music Academy. These father/daughter pairs spent time hanging out together on Sunday afternoons while they learned to play the ukulele.

Each session was filled with music and smiles as dads and daughters learned to play “You are my Sunshine” and other favorite songs. It was exciting to watch both dad and daughter learn songs on the ukulele. Some participants had previous musical experience, but many participants chose this class as their introduction to music. The ukulele’s small size and simple chord structure make it a great beginning instrument for students. It is fun to play for students of all ages!

During weekly classes, dads and daughters encouraged each other as they learned together. The progress each group made was amazing! In addition to learning ukulele chords and strumming patterns, each group learned to play together an make music. Special thanks to Julia Bradley and Jim Rives for teaching this class.
